Ligue 1 side Lyon’s foward Alexandre Lacazette, currently the third highest Ligue 1 goalscorer (behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani) – has been linked with a £10m summer move to Anfield.
The 22-year-old plays as a striker for Ligue 1 side Lyon, and has impressed everyone with his performances thisseason. The Frenchman has notched 13 goals and grabbed four assists in 26 league games so far, according to transfermarkt
While Lacazette has promised to do everything he can to help push Lyon up the table, who have had a poor season by their high standards as they sit in the fifth place in the league, he hasn’t ruled out a potential move away from his boyhood club:
“I want to go further, higher and, more importantly, help the team win because if I finish the season with 25 goals but we ended up in tenth, there will be disappointment, so I want to score to help the team,” the twice capped Frenchman told Canal+.
“Everything is going well at the moment, that’s for sure. If there really is a club that is interested in me and I cannot advance with Lyon, it will be discussed.”
The Reds have been tracking highly-rated Lacazette for most of the campaign as the France international enjoying his best season yet in front of goal.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has scouted the player for a while now and is ready to bid about £10million for the frontman – and hope that with the Lyon having financial troubles, they would be open to Ligue 1 club’s financial problems that they’ll be open to doing business.
Liverpool face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham for the player’s signature as the two London clubs look to beat their Premier League rivals for the player’s signature.
Lacazette can play as a lone striker or on the wing, meaning he would add versatility to Liverpool’s attacking options. He can be deployed on the left wing, a position that has troubled Liverpool of late. He is an accomplished and impressive finisher of the ball. He is not afraid to try long shots, volleys and finesses and has an incredible vision and eye for goal. He also links up play in the attacking third and has splendid one-on-one finishing ability.
Liverpool are looking at Lacazette as a potential backup option for their brilliant current pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge- now known as SAS. The two have scored a combined 42 Premier League goals this season. However, Liverpool need a backup option with Iago Aspas not impressing and Fabio Borini’s future uncertain. A player of Lacazette’s credentials would come in very handy for Liverpool’s raised expectations next season and would provide tremendous depth and quality to the squad.
