The agent of midfielder Suso says Liverpool FC are keen on handing the Spaniard a new contract.

Suso has been linked with a move away from Anfield as his contract expires next summer. Liverpool have not used the youngster much after his return from a season long loan at Almeria last year. At present, the player is out with a groin injury but it was reported that he would not extend his contract if the Reds don’t guarantee him game-time.

Italian side AC Milan have shown interest in the 20 year old and because of his contract expiring next summer, they would be able to land the Spaniard for a meagre amount. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio‘s website, it was only a matter of time till the deal was announced.

Both parties are ready to close the deal, now they just need to wait for when it will be possible to formalize the agreement. Milan beat the competition from Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, which negotiated the purchase of Suso from Liverpool for a €3M fee.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers praised Suso’s spell away from Anfield, saying: “Young Suso has had a terrific loan in Spain playing regular first-team football. He will come back and come into the squad in the summer and then we will assess where he’s at.”

Despite a lot of speculation which links the youngster with a move to Milan, the midfielder is still wanted at Anfield beyond the end of his contract in June, according to his agent.

“There is no agreement with Milan,” Jaume Serra told

“It is certainly a possibility, but for now, there’s nothing more to say.

“Rather, Liverpool are pushing for his renewal, so we cannot rule even this hypothesis out. At the moment, it’s too early to discuss any possibilities.”

Serra has also moved to rubbish suggestions that Suso, who has 21 senior appearances for Liverpool in two seasons, could be moving to Napoli. Napoli were especially linked with the player because it was Rafa Benitez who convinced Suso to choose the Merseysiders over Real Madrid and got him to England

“No, I’ve never had any contact with Napoli,” Serra added.

“For now, we can rule out this possibility. There’s no interest from them.”

Suso is a player that offers something different in the Liverpool team than what Brendan Rodgers usually goes for. He is not a pacey player and wouldn’t participate actively in counter-attacks. Instead, the Cadiz born player can be incorporated in a deeper role and acts like an efficient deep lying playmaker role. His creativity and vision can help a side out in the middle third. Liverpool’s midfield has looked extraordinarily ordinary this season and Suso can be used to rectify it, once he returns from injury. Rodgers should definitely utilize the player’s services as he has shown his potential on numerous occasions.
