Liverpool FC have now joined the race to sign the 19 year-old branded as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ as they plot a move to make sure the player heads to Liverpool instead of London.

The Real Betis player is a target for many European clubs

The highly rated Real Betis winger, Alvaro Vadillo, has sparked interest from the Merseyside club, but has been a long time interest of Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal and Manchester United. It is thought that Italian clubs like AC Milan and Fiorentina are also keeping tabs on the young Spaniard.

In the summer, the Real Betis winger was thought to be the top priority for Andre Villas Boas at Spurs and was regarded as a direct replacement for Gareth Bale. However, talks broke down as the Seville club did not sanction the sale for the player and instead, inserted a £17 million release clause into his contract.

Recent reports indicate that the Belticos’ player has once again sparked interest from Tottenham and has also caught the eye of Liverpool.

The Spanish winger has drawn comparisons with Cristiano Ronado due to his skills on the ball, eagerness to defeat defenders with tricks and dribbling and the way in which he dominates the left flank. People also suggested that Vadillo is more advanced than the Portugal captain was at the same age. He was the youngest player to start a La Liga match appearing in a 1-0 away win at Granada in August 2011 aged 16 years, 11 months and 16 days old. The 19 year old is a product of the Betis academy. While the left side of the pitch is Vadillo’s preferred one, he can play on either flank and has often also been compared to former Valencia winger, Joaquin (also a Betis academy product).

In his fifth first team appearance for the club, he collided with Sergio Ramos at the Bernabeu and tore his cruciate ligament which unfortunately kept him out for six months. The youngster used this time to learn English.

The 19 year old would be a great addition to the Liverpool side, if Brendan Rodgers does in fact, decide to shell out £17 million for Vadillo. The Betis player can add immense threat in the Liverpool team by making the left flank his own, something he does with comfort at his present club. Liverpool need a left winger in the team with Moses not performing on loan and Assaidi performing very well, but on loan to Stoke. Vadillo has close control, is confident in one-on-one situations and is very pacey, which definitely make him any defender’s nightmare. The Liverpool attack could look immensely threatening if they have the 19 year old on the left, Raheem Sterling on the right, Philippe Coutinho in the middle with Suarez and Sturridge up front. The winger fits the bill for the type of player FSG usually want to bring in, and this could be a great signing for the club.
