Manchester United will have to pay £60m if they want to sign Paul Pogba back from Italian champions Juventus.
Paul Pogba left Manchester United for Juventus in the summer of 2012 and has developed into one world’s best midfielder now. Old Traford side want to bring him back now but Juve want to make huge profits though his sell.
Daniel Taylor of The Observer and The Guardian has reported today that: “Manchester United have been quoted £60m if they want to persevere with plans to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford two years after his acrimonious departure on a free transfer.
The Observer can reveal that United are not only targeting Kevin Strootman from Roma but have made repeated attempts over the past year to explore whether Juventus would sell them the midfielder at a huge profit. Mino Raiola, the player’s agent, said this week that Pogba was happy in Turin but United’s information is that the France international is open to the idea.”
Paul Pogba was the primary transfer target to David Moyes and new manager Louis van Gaal also likes the Frenchman. And apart from Pogba; Fabregas, Kevin Strootman and Kroos are also being linked with a move to United as Red Devils plan to sign at least two quality midfielders during this transfer window.
Manchester United were in the race to sign Toni Kroos until very recently but the German has said that he does not wish to move to Old Trafford and Real Madrid is the most likely destination for the player now.
Meanwhile, Manchester United has not made their mind for making any concrete offer yet. Although Manchester United management is completely convinced about the skill set of Paul Pogba, they are not assured about the behavior of the player yet.
Pogba left Manchester United 2 years ago and has openly criticized then manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Another justified reason for the worries of Manchester United is Pogba’s agent Mino Riola. United management does not view Riola as a good person to do business with as his clientele include the likes of Mario Balotelli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Observer reports that Pogba had become disillusioned at United because of how long it was taking him to break into the team and his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson suffered as a result. Sir Ferguson had a suspicion that Pogba already had a secret deal in place with Juventus before announcing it and accused the Frenchman of not showing any respect to the club at all.
All the aforementioned facts are reason worry for Manchester United and hence, they have not made up their mind to make any initial offer yet. However, Manchester United is not the only interested club for the signature of Pogba. Spanish giants Real Madrid are also big admirers of Pogba’s talent and keeping a close eye on him.
