The extension of transfer deadline date has perhaps opened new avenues for teams to sign foreign players, in abundance. After failed transfer of Former Brazil Captain Alexsandro de Souza, FC Goa have pulled out a cat out of the hat. The Hard Tackle, brought you, that Alex’s replacement has already been signed. Now, The Hard Tackle understands that Former Arsenal Left back Andre Santos is supposed to be Alexsandro de Souza’s replacement.

Andre Santos is a left-back, who can also be deployed as a left winger. He is a youth product of Figueirense for whom he made his senior debut in a friendly game against Corinthians. Santos participated and helped Brazil capture the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, and subsequently signed for Arsenal, after a two year stint with Turkish Giants Fenerbahce.

Santos, who featured in bits for the Arsenal squad,  took to the limelight when , after a dismal first-half performance against Manchester United, he swapped shirts with ex-Gunner captain Robin van Persie at half-time. Santos came under even more criticism, ever since.

A constant performer, with experience and global pedigree, Andre Santos could easily make the Left Back position his, in the FC Goa contingent, providing stability, balance and attacking fluidity, in the process.

FC Goa have already announced marquee manager Zico and marquee player Robert Pires. Already boasting a hefty looking squad FC Goa are set to face Team Chennai in their opening fixture.
