In an inspired second half performance FC Goa sunk Chennaiyin FC 3-0. Two Mirsolav Spleckia goals and one Andre Santos goal, led the hosts to a comfortable win. Grabbing all three points, FC Goa climb onto the third spot with fifteen points. Indian starlets like Mandar Rao Desai were all praise for their gaffer Zico, who masterminded this win.

“Zico is always encouraging us and helping us improve where we are weak. We are really working hard to improve on those things. It’s been really great working with Zico.” said Mandar Rao Desai, talking to ISL Media Team

“It’s been really great! We really needed this win to be on the safer side and our team played really well, so we’re really happy.” he added.

FC Goa’s Bruno Pinheiro also shared his thoughts on the outcome of the match. He said, “It’s been terrific, because in the first half of the championship, we didn’t have the luck we deserved. We played much better than the other teams and we created more chances,” , while talking to ISL Media Team.

“Fortunately, in the second leg of the tournament things are going better; we’re still playing better and the morale is increasing, Our goal is to win all the games until the end.”

Both Mandar and Bruno appreciated the crowd support. While Bruno said ““I heard from all the foreigners that this is the hardest field to play in. When things weren’t going well for us, they were still cheering us, from the first minute till the end. I want to give these three points to all the fans.”, Mandar explained “Yes it does, because whenever we receive the ball on the flanks they really cheer us giving us encouragement to go forward and really make a difference.”

Meanwhile Kerala’s Andrew Barisic pointed out the complexity and the toughness of the game, he said “Obviously you can tell it was not our best game, they had more of the possession, they played the ball better and we were second to all the balls that were given.”

Although both sides remain in the top four, FC Goa have uplifted themselves to third.
