The second half of the Indian Super League drafts came to a conclusion today, 23rd of July 2014. The drafts saw the eight franchisees apply various permutations and combinations to frame a game-plan for the upcoming season. The epic conclusion saw more than 60 players join the newly found franchisees. The Hard Tackle takes a look at the business done along-with the key signings done by the eight franchisees in the second day of drafting.
PUNE CITY FC :
The Pune based franchisee saw the ball rolling by signing Deepak Devrani .Tapan Maity,
Arindam Bhattacharya , Anupam Sarkar ,Pratik Shinde ,Pronay Halder ,Lalit Thapa and Mehrahjuddin Wadoo concluded the business for the Fiorentina affiliated side.

Ever since his discovery at the age of 15, Pratik has been regularly followed by many Indian Football enthusiasts. Now at the age of 18, Pratik has already evolved into a better and a more efficient player. Being the first Indian player to sign for a foreign club side, Pratik has been praised by coaches afar. Shinde, is also the first Indian player to sign a professional contract with Southern Premier Soccer league team in US State Soccer. Having represented India at both the U13 and U15 levels, Pratik who operates as a Central Midfielder is known for his craftiness with the ball. The 18year old is the best future prospect that India has got right now and Pratik like many football fanatics dreams to play for his favorite club side Manchester United.
KERELA BLASTERS FC :
The Kerela based, Sachin Tendulkar co-owned franchisee bought Avinabo Bag,Sandip Nandy,C.S. Sabeeth,Luis Barreto,Milagres Gonsalves,Ramandeep Singh and Renedy Singh.
Key Signing : Sandip Nandy
Operating as a goal keeper, Sandip Nandy is one of India’s top veteran players still playing in the I league. The Burdwan born player started his illustrious career with Indian Powerhouses Mohun Bagan. After spending three season with the Bengal based club, a move to Tollygunge Agragami seemed emminent due to lack of first team opportunities. Two brilliant seasons with Tollygunge, saw Nandy, move to East Bengal, arch rivals of his former club. It is in East Bengal that the 5ft 10in keeper learned and excelled in most of his trade. Still going strong at 39 yrs, Sandip is one of the most experienced players in the I league,with a career spreading over 15years, divided between clubs like Churchill Brothers, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. The veteran has also doned the Indian jersey on many occasions and has delivered whenever the country needed his services.
DELHI DYNAMOS FC :
The Feyenoord affiliated franchisee started their bandwagon with Adil Khan. Manish Bhargav, Govin Singh,Jagroop Singh, Steven Dias, Anwar Ali and Manandeep Singh were all snapped by the Delhi based club.

At a mere age of 21, Manandeep Singh is one of the most dangerous strikers around the I league. The Hisar born player started his playing career with Pailan Arrows. After an average first season which reflected signs of an exciting future prospect, Singh moved to Air India. At Air India, Singh became one of the most feared strikers in the I league averaging a goal in every two games. His off the chart statistics of scoring 9 times in just 18 appearances saw him bag the FPAI Young player of the Year. These heroics saw Manandeep move to I league Giants, East Bengal. Manandeep Singh has also represented and contributed for his country India, at every youth level be it the U-16, U-19 or the U-21. In a career of just 4 years, Manandeep Singh has terrorized and haunted the defense of every I league club, his goal scoring prowess of 20 goals in 66 appearances stand out in itself.
NORTH EAST UNITED FC :
After clearly stating intentions of building a club from grass- root level, the John Abraham co-owned franchisee started the day by signing Pritam Kumar Singh. Milan Singh,Robin Gurung, Alen Deory, Seimeinlen Doungel and David Nghaite were also signed by the newly found franchisee.

The Mizoram born Midfielder who can also operate as a striker started his playing career with a Delhi based club named Goodwill FC. With nothing to prove and focuing on studies rather than than football, Nghaite was spotted by the the capital’s football elites and soon earned a place in the 2012 Santosh Trophy. Noticed by the Southern Samity in the Santosh Trophy, he subsequently joined the second division side and led them to final round of the competition. Inspired performances saw the player sign for I league club Rangdajied wherein he featured regularly for the side. After just one season at Rangdajied, David moved to Shillong Lajong on a one year contract. At just 24, David has the potential to mesmerize the fans.
ATLETICO DE KOLKATA :
Starting the day with the signing of Sanju Pradhan, the kolkata based side completed its squad with the inclusion of Kinshuk Debnath, Lester Fernandez, Subhasish Roy Chowdhury, Baljit Sahni, Climax Lawrence ,and Nallappan Mohanraj.
Key Signing : Climax Lawrence
Climax Lawrence has been one of the heartbeats in the Indian contingent ever since his inclusion in the squad way back in 2002. His winning goal against Afghanistan in the AFC Challenge Cup 2012, clearly reflects his value to the Indian National side .Climax has he is known, started his playing career for native club Salgaocar as a Midfielder. After spending five brilliant seasons at the Goa based club ,wherein he evolved into one of the best Midfielders in the I league, East Bengal came calling. A poor season as per Climax’s standards saw him move back to his native place with Goan club Dempo SC. Climax has been one of the most hardworking players in the I league, the Maragao born player is often known for his high intensity work rate and processing multiple attacks down the midfield in a pulsating manner.
MUMBAI CITY FC :
After an inspired first day, the mumbai franchisee plucked Rohit Mirza first. Ishan Debnath, Nadong Bhutia, Asif Kottayil, Peter Costa, Lalrin Fela, and Sushilkumar Singh were all signed by the Ranbir Kapoor co owned franchisee.
Key Signing : Asif Kottayil
The 29year old Kottayil started his playing career with Second division club Malabar United FC. After two inspirational seasons for the Kerala based Side, Asif, was snapped up by the I league club Prayag United, who were then known as Chirag United. However the fairy tale did not quiet go as expected, as Asif, spent most of the time for the club on sidelines and did not feature even once for the Chirag Group owned outfit. A move to Chirag United Kerala was quiet eminent, however he stayed only one season , scoring just once in 19 appearances. Asif was again re signed by Prayag United, with a promise of regular first team appearances. Since then, Asif has featured 68times for the Kerela based club, scoring just thrice. Playing as a Central Midfielder, Kottayil is one of the most enforcing players on the field.
TEAM GOA :
Mandar Rao Desai was the first signing of the Goa based club. Romeo Fernandes ,Peter Carvalho, Holicharan Nazary, Prabir Das and Rowilson Rodrigues soon followed.

Romeo Fernandes is one of the most exciting prospects in Indian Football. Born in Asslona, Goa the player who operates as a Winger started his playing career with Dempo Youth Team. Eventually, Fernandes played vital roles for the Dempo youth team at U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels, he was consequently loaned to second division club Maragao SC. After just one season with Maragao, which saw Fernandes lead the Goa based side back into the Goa Professional league, Fernandes was recalled by parent club Dempo. After playing vital roles and delivering constantly on the field in the 2012 I league U20 season, Fernandes was called up to the India U23 team for the 2013 AFC U22 Qualifiers. Even at the top level, Fernandes displayed his array of skills and made a dream debut by scoring the equalizing goal against UAE in the 87th minute, in a match which ended 1-1 .
TEAM BENGALURU :
The Bengaluru based franchisee rolled the diced with the signing of Abhishek Das. Jayesh Rane ,Abhijit Mondal ,Anthony Barbosa ,Dane Pereira ,NP Pradeep and Jaison Vales were soon signed up by the outfit as they completed their squad for the premier season.

Abhishek Das started playing football at the tender age of 4 and eventually joined the much famed Tata Football Academy. In 2010 the Bengali player graduated from the academy and went on to sign of I league Giants East Bengal. After two seasons on loan at Pailan Arrows and United Sikkim, Das eventually returned home to make a dream start has he was included in East Bengal’s 2011 Indian Federation Cup squad list. Abhishek Das has also regularly featured for India in the U 23 level. The 23year old Defender has still a long way to go and is one of the most promising future prospects in Indian Football.
All in all the, the two day mega event ended with a touch of style and bang. All the teams looked quiet satisfied with their performances in the aution room. There were various discussions and much needed planning happened for the eight franchisees to frame their gameplan. The Ranbir Kapoor co owned franchisee, Team Mumbai emerged as the top dogs in the auctions, signing almost all of the experienced players in the first day itself. The ISL is supposed to be a new trend setter much like the Major League Soccer system established firmly in the United States. The League has already started announcing its arrival with much needed fanfare and goodies.
