It looks like the extended transfer deadline date has been a blessing to all of the eight franchisees. Links to top players, both foreign and national, have emerged over the last few days. The Hard Tackle now understands that East Bengal’s Ranti Martins is close to join Abhishek Bachchan co-owned Chennaiyin FC.

Ranti Martins started his professional career with King Faisal Babes, but it was in India, that the Nigerian would excel in his department. Signing for Dempo in 2004, Ranti Martins boasted an unparalleled, prolific goal scoring tally of 172 goals in 161 appearances, for the goan club.

Moving to high spending United Sports Club in 2012, after 8 years with Dempo, Martins displayed no signs of slowing down, scoring 30 in 40 appearances.

Recently moving to Indian Giants, East Bengal, after a successful loan stint with Rangdejid United, Ranti formed an understanding with fellow country-man Dudu.

Chennaiyin FC which boasts marquee player, world cup winner Marco Materazzi, will show acumen and tactical vision, if Ranti is signed by them. A side which lacks prolific names in the striking department, perhaps Ranti Martins will recreate his magic and lead the team from Chennai, to new heights.

Chennaiyin FC face FC Goa, in their first fixture, away from home.
