FC Barcelona striker Neymar has said that his understanding with Lionel Messi is just getting better with every passing game and that great things are expected in future.
Neymar signed for FC Barcelona in the summer of 2013 but he has been criticized by the section of media for not giving due justice to his huge potential. Neymar has also been accused of not forming greater understanding with Lionel Messi. But the Brazilian striker believes that his rapport with Messi is improving with every passing game and their improved partnership will help FC Barcelona.
“It’s an honour to play alongside him; he’s the best player in the world, truly world-class. Everything he does on the pitch impresses me. His assists, his playing style, his goals. Our understanding on the pitch just keeps getting better and I’m convinced that our improved partnership will help Barcelona,” Neymar said. He was speaking to Brazilian magazine Globoesporte.
Brazil are set to play against Argentina in a friendly game tonight and Neymar believes that it is not right to expect immediate results as his national team is in a re-building stage at the moment.
“It’ll be tough because they’ve been playing together for a long time and we’re currently re-building our team. Despite that, we’re Brazil and we aim to play our best and go in search of the win. I’m not sure if they’re favourites to win the game, but if they are we hope to surprise everyone”.
I’ve Set Up More Goals For Messi Than Anyone: Dani Alves
FC Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has claimed that he has given more assists to Lionel Messi than any other Blaugrana player.
“I’ve set up more goals for Messi than anyone at Barcelona. That’s a fact. The cross for Messi’s goal number 400 for Barça was mine. In Barça’s first Club World Cup Leo’s winning goal came from my cross. Some people might not like it, but it’s there for everyone to see,” Alves Said. He was speaking to Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
Meanwhile, contract situation of Alves is not clear yet and the player refused to commit his long term future to FC Barcelona. But Alves also stressed that FC Barcelona is a very demanding club and he improved as a player at the club.
“I never think in the long term. So in the short term I want to see out my current contract here. I’ve survived at FC Barcelona because I know the expectations that there always are here. I always set myself challenges and staying at Barçelona is a personal challenge of mine. I want to leave with a feeling that my time at Barçelona has been awesome”.
