FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has said that the return of Luis Suarez from the ban will prove a big boost for the Catalans.

FC Barcelona were held to a 0-0 draw by Malaga on Wednesday where the Catalans failed to register a single shot on the goal and they were hugely criticized for their performance. But Messi believes that the return of Suarez will add a more firepower to the attack of FC Barcelona.

“It’s special that he chose to come here [from Liverpool]. We will be stronger as a team with him. We will have a lot more variety.” Messi said. He was speaking to Fox Sport Magazine.

FC Barcelona have failed to win the Champions League since past three seasons and Lionel Messi said that winning it again this time around is going to be the first priority of the Catalans.

“For us, it’s not vengeance to return to the Champions League final because it’s our duty to be there. We will try to do it again, as we have always done. We have to get back to winning trophies,” Messi said.

“The objectives are always the same: to win titles and to show good football. Last year, we failed when we should not have done so.”

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was also frustrated with the draw against Malaga and he said that playing against such defensive side is always very difficult.

“We tried to pass the ball about quickly and take control of the game but we struggled to do that because Málaga simply closed up shop at the back. We tried reorganising ourselves but it’s always difficult playing against side who sit back,” Iniesta said. He was speaking in a press conference after the match.

Iniesta also said that FC Barcelona will have to find ways to go past “9 man defence”. “We did look for other solutions. We’ll always find ourselves up against sides who sit back and defend and it’s up to us to be more precise. We tried but it’s not easy to break past a nine-man defence. Málaga deserve merit but we lacked velocity to get behind their defence and create chances.”

FC Barcelona were able to earn only one point at La Rosaleda but Iniesta stressed that it is not a disaster and they will bounce back again. “We looked for the win but that’s difficult in this league. You have to play well to win in this competition.”
