Italian champions Juventus have joined the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in a race to sign FC Barcelona contract rebel Dani Alves.
The contract of Dani Alves at FC Barcelona is set expire in the summer of 2015 and the Catalan club is in no mood to offer him an extension as they already have the likes of Martin Montoya and Douglas in their ranks who are ready to replace the Brazilian.
The contract situation of Dani Alves has not gone unnoticed in Europe as the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain are interested in signing the 31 year old. Now, reports coming from Italy have confirmed the entry of Juventus in the chase of Dani Alves.
Italian sports daily Tuttosport has confirmed in its report today that Juventus are planning a summer swoop for Dani Alves. The Tuttosport report claims that: “The Old Lady have repeatedly been linked with defenders, and are unlikely to pass-up the opportunity to acquire Dani Alves on a free transfer. The Brazilian legend’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2015, and it is looking increasingly unlikely that Barcelona will offer an extension.”
The contract talks of Stephan Lichsteiner, who is a regular starter for Juventus as a right-back, are not making any progress and the management of the Old Lady is convinced now that the Swiss international intends to leave the club in summer of 2015 and hence they are in the market to replace him with a world class player.
Dani Alves has spoken about his intentions to leave FC Barcelona for greener pastures on numerous occasions in the past and the Blaugrana management has also acted proactively this summer to sign Douglas while coach Luis Enrique is also happy with the progress made by La Masia graduate Martin Montoya this year.
Meanwhile, Juventus will have to overcome a strict competition if they want to have any realistic chance of getting their man as Arsenal are currently the favorites for the signature of Dani Alves.
Arsenal did signed Mathieu Debuchy this summer as a specialist right back but he is currently out with a long term injury. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to sign a world class replacement for Debuchy and he is watching the situation of Dani Alves closely. Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is also desperate to add more experience to his ailing defence and would be delighted to find a competition for Rafael.
