FC Barcelona have confirmed that the 4 month ban of Luis Suarez is about to be finished and that he can play in a first El Clasico against Real Madrid.

World football governing body FIFA had banned Luis Suarez for 4 months in June for biting Italy’s Giorigo Chiellini during the World Cup in Brazil and that ban is about to finish in October, just before the start of their clash against arch rival Real Madrid.

FC Barcelona’s initial appeal against the ban of Suarez was rejected by FIFA but the player was ultimately cleared to train with the Catalan giants by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). FC Barcelona had filed an appeal before CAS but the court upheld the four-month suspension and ruled that that it would run from the day of the offence, thus clearing the player to return to action on October 25.

FC Barcelona will face Real Madrid on 25th October and the club made it clear through the official statement that Suarez is available for the clash.

According to a statement on the club’s website, “Luis Suárez can play in the clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 25 at 6.00 PM CET. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed to FC Barcelona that the Uruguayan’s suspension will end at midnight on Friday 24 October, thus clearing him to appear in first official fixture for his new club, against none other than Real Madrid, should Luis Enrique opt to play him.”

New FC Barcelona Signing Jeremy Mathieu: I’m Looked At Differently Now

New FC Barcelona signing Jeremy Mathieu has said that his chances of playing the international football are greatly bolstered by his move to Catalunya.

Jeremy Mathieu moved to FC Barcelona from Valencia during the summer transfer window for 20 million euros. Immediately after his move to FC Barcelona, Mathieu was selected in the France squad and the player says that he is happy with how the things have worked out for him.

“Obviously I am the same player who was at Valencia, but after five years there I could have some great games and it wouldn’t have made any impact,” Mathieu told Le Parisien.

“Instead, after I arrived at Barcelona I had the feeling that people were not looking at me in the same way. Now I want to play some great games for Barca so I am selected for the next squad.”
