FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is a big admirer of Fiorentina star Juan Cuadrado and he has asked the club management to make a move for the Colombia international.
FC Barcelona have long been linked with a move for Juan Cuadrado but the club has not made any offer for the player yet but reports coming from Spain suggest that new boss Luis Enrique has persuaded the management to sign the player.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has claimed today that: “Juan Guillermo Cuadrado remains one of the objectives of FC Barcelona to finish completing their squad ahead of the 2014-15 season. And it still is because Colombia international is a player who has fallen in love Barca coach with Luis Enrique Martinez.”
Juan Cuadrado is a versatile player and his skills are greatly admired by new boss Luis Enrique. Cuadrado has mostly played as a winger for Fiorentina but he is equally comfortable in the midfield too. And FC Barcelona coach believes that he can be used on a position of Dani Alves also. The natural position of Dani Alves is that of a right-back but he plays in a much advanced role for FC Barcelona and Enrique believes that Cuadrado is a more suitable, younger option for the Brazilian who is looking increasingly likely to leave Camp Nou this summer.
The reported value of Cudrado is believed to be in the region of 30-35 million and Barcelona management is expected to make an initial offer of 28 million euros for the player.
Meanwhile, the pursuit of FC Barcelona got a big boost today when Daniele Prade, Sporting Director of Fiorentina, hinted at a possible departure of the Colombian. Speaking to Sky Sport 24, Prade said that: “we have had no official bids yet. However, it would be very difficult to refuse an offer of 50 million euros.
“We hope to stay with us but I must say how things are. Sorry, we have never had official offers, continually hear the agent and the player, August 4 to 5 turns and talk honestly. It would be very difficult to refuse an offer of 50 million. Let’s wait and see what happens We, however, do not think about individuality. We have made three signings like Rossi, Gomez and Ilicic last year and we have signed to Basanta, Octavio and Bright this year, we want to grow intelligently”.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is not the only club who is chasing Cuadrado. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is also keeping a tab on the player and reports in the English media have claimed today that the Old Trafford side is ready to make an initial offer of £30 million for the player.
