Colombia’s Juan Cuadrado was one of the revelations of the World Cup in Brazil and now, European giants FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are fighting for the signature of Fiorentina star.
Fiorentina midfielder Juan Cuadrado is one the hottest property of this transfer window and club owner Andrea Della Valle wants to get maximum possible returns from the sale of his clubs’ most valuable player this summer.
FC Barcelona have long been linked with the player and now, German champions Bayern Munich have also entered the race to sign Cuadrado and Catalan newspaper Sport has claimed today that the Bavarian giants are willing to get involved in a bidding war with Blaugrana. Sport has dedicated its first page to this story, claiming that the ongoing competition is ‘all-out war’ for Juan Cuadrado.
Fiorentina are looking for something in the range of €33m but it could well rise if the two giants try to out-bid each other. FC Barcelona are in the market for quality midfielder as they have already sold Cesc Fabregas and Xavi Hernandez is also very likely to exit the Camp Nou this summer. Ivan Rakitic has joined Barcelona this summer but coach Luis Enrique wants to add more depth to the squad and sees Cuadrado as the perfect candidate.
Meanwhile, the Viola owner Andrea Della Valle has already made it clear that they would release Cuadrado if he requests for a transfer or if any suitable offer comes.
Della Valle said earlier this week that: “When he returns we want to see if he shows us the desire to stay in Florence. If he really does want to remain. We’ll talk to him and look him in the eye to resolve the situation.
“It’s complicated, but not impossible. I’ll do everything I can, even with many sacrifices, but if the lad is no longer motivated to stay here then we can only accept that and move on.
“However, at the moment I don’t get that sensation from him.”
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is also a big admirer of Cuadrado and feels that he is more than capable to feel the void left by the departure of Toni Kroos and potential exit of Xherdan Shaqiri. Rummenigge has already made a contact with Della Valle to confirm his intention of signing Cuadrado.
However, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are not the only interested clubs for the signature of Cuadrado. Manchester United are also keeping a close eye on the situation of Cuadrado and are ready to make an approach should Juventus reject their offer for Arturo Vidal.
