Everton are preparing for life without Chelsea’s on loan striker Romelu Lukaku and are lining up a bid for Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck to lead Roberto Martinez’s side next season.

Everton had a stellar season in English Premier League since Roberto Martinez took over from David Moyes. Roberto Martinez has instilled an attacking philosophy in Everton’s ranks and his methods were rewarded with a 5th placed finish in Premier League in 2013-14 season. The impact of Roberto Martinez has been huge and the fans believes that it has bettered David Moyes decade long association with the club in a single season.

Key to Roberto Martinez can be measured in terms of the goals scored and the points tally in the Premier League season. Toffees notched up 61 goals in Premier League alone while their defence let in only 39 goals contrary to the belief that Roberto Martinez aren’t defensively organized. The primary architects of Roberto Martinez side were Striker Romelu Lukaku, Midfielder Ross Barkley and Defender Seamus Coleman. The progress of Barkley and Coleman shows the impact of the young manager and his system and the duo is expected to play a vital role even next season.

When it comes to Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku, it will be difficult for Everton to convince Chelsea and the player for a return to the Merseyside. Romelu Lukaku was on loan from Chelsea for the second season running. Romelu Lukaku’s first stint was at West Bromwich Albion in 2012-13 season and he followed it up with another brilliant season at Everton. Belgium’s leading striker in 2014 World Cup notched up 15 goals in 31 appearances for Everton last season. Romelu Lukaku is looking forward to proving himself in Champions League and unfortunately it will leave a big hole in Everton attack.

Chelsea manager Jose Moruinho might be willing to cash in on the Belgium striker. Everton faces stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Romelu Lukaku.

Current situation has forced Everton to look for alternatives and they are casting their eyes on Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck. England international is concerned with the lack of playing time and has expressed his desire to move out of Manchester United in search of regular playing time. Danny Welbeck is looking for a central role, with Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney ahead of him it seems unlikely that he will get many opportunities at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are interested in a number of Everton players such as Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Leighton Baines. Everton has also expressed their interested in Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverly and the latest reports suggest that Danny Welbeck is identified as a viable alternative to Romelu Lukaku. Danny Welbeck is in moderate wages at Manchester United and if Everton are serious about their business, the England international will be lining up for the Toffees next season.
