The Uruguyan is available after serving a lengthy ban, after biting Giorgio Chiellini at the Fifa World Cup.

Barcelona travel to face Real Madrid on Saturday in the first El Clasico of the season at the Bernabeu and for once the talking point before the El-Clasico is not be the rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.Instead it is the much anticipated return of the former Liverpool striker.

Barca coach Luis Enrique has confirmed the former Liverpool star will make his debut, and – if he starts the match – he is likely to line up alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar for the first time at the Bernabeu in Barca’s deadly-looking front three.

Luis Enrique said: “He will have some minutes for sure, how many I cannot say.
“It is a big thing for him, to join up finally with the team and get some minutes.”

The Uruguyan has played in a couple of friendlies for his country as well as Barcelona but is yet to take the field in a competitive match for his new employers.

Suarez is now facing stiff questions over his fitness after gaining weight. Barca’s coach Luis Enrique though has rejected comments made by the media that the Uruguayan is ‘overweight’.

“It’s difficult to evaluate if he (Suarez) is at 70, 80, 90 or 100 percent but what is sure is he feels much better in training,” said Enrique.
“We see him training every day, he’s a player like any other and what’s clear is that he’s not fat,” the 44-year-old coach and former player said.

Barca coach Enrique is optimistic that Suarez can still have the same impact in games.
“He’s been in a certain dynamic for a while and the fact that he has been able to play for his country has allowed him to rediscover the daily life of a footballer,” added Enrique.

Barcelona currently lead the Spanish league after eight matches followed by Sevilla at second and Real Madrid at third, four points behind the leaders.

Suarez was recently given the Golden Boot award after becoming Europe’s top-scorer during the previous season. He shared the honours with Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid. Suarez said playing at Barca was “a dream come true.”

Is Suarez fit to play against Real Madrid straight away? “If you had asked me that a week ago, before the two games with Uruguay, I may have had doubts. But I have played in those two (friendly) games and I am probably in better condition than I thought I was. So I think I can say now, yes, 100 per cent, I am ready to play,” said an optimistic Suarez

Suarez’s new teammates are also looking forward to line up with the former Liverpool star

“We are all really looking forward to the arrival of Luis,” Messi said on Tuesday. “He will bring a lot of strength to the team. He is a forward who scores a lot of goals. I am happy as he has spent a lot of time without getting onto the pitch.”

Young Brazilian, Neymar is also excited.

“Luis is a star, he loves football and it’s tough for him not being able to play,” said Neymar. “It’s impressive seeing how he works every day to improve the team, how he helps us. We’ll do a lot of great things.”

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has no fresh injury worries to contend with ahead of the game but his biggest dilemma will be whether or not to start Luis Suarez from the first whistle.

If Suarez starts Pedro is likely to drop to the bench with El Clasico veteran Xavi also set to be among the substitutes.
