According to reports, Manchester United have reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the sale of Angel Di Maria and the Argentine winger is expected to complete his medical early this week.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had earlier confirmed that Angel Di Maria would be leaving the Los Blancos after failing to reach an agreement with the club. And it seems that Manchester United have agreed to pay £63.9 million for the winger following his stellar season with Madrid and Argentina.

According to journalist Guillem Balague, Real Madrid initially demanded 90 million (Euros)  to Manchester United’s offer of 60 and the final figure of 80 million (Euros) was arrived at, which translates into  £63.9 million. Balague also confirmed that Di Maria will be travelling to Manchester on Monday, having already bid his team-mates good-bye. The winger is likely to complete the transfer this week and should be expected to start against Burnley on Saturday.

The journalist also revealed that United will present Angel di Maria with the much coveted No 7 jersey, one that hasnt been done justice to, ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford.

Angel Di Maria had been inching away from the Spanish capital following a dispute regarding his contract renewal, and with the arrival of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos, the Argentine took the decision to ply his trade elsewhere. Though PSG were also interested in the midfielder, the compulsion to adhere to the FFP regulations brought an end to their pursuit.

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso also wished the winger best of luck, revealing his destination in the tweet ( Thanks for all noodle! I wish you the best, even in the Man. Utd :) never forget the zigzag extra time in Lisbon.)

The arrival of Angel di Maria to Old Trafford will be extremely important for Van Gaal who has failed to register a single win in two games. Manchester United’s lack of space and creativity is apparent and hence Di Maria will be looking to plug that loophole in the United squad. Di Maria will provided United with pace and skill and will be expected to penetrate the opposition and set-up the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie.

However the question that does arise is-Where is Angel Di Maria going to play in Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 system? With Mata playing as a No.10, right behind Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie, where is the space for Di Maria in Van Gaal’s starting eleven.
