Recent reports reveal that Bayern Munich midfielder Tony Kroos is determined to join Manchester United this summer and has allegedly informed his team-mates of this decision.
It is no secret that Manchester United have identified Tony Kroos as a potential summer target after David Moyes himself met with the midfielder’s representatives earlier this year while scouting him.
The German midfielder has only one year left on his contract and negotiations regarding an extension have come to a halt after Tony Kroos was refused his demands. The midfielder sought parity with club legends such as Philipp Lahm and Franck Ribery but was reportedly refused which led to a stalemate between the player and the club officials.
Reports suggest that Manchester United are more than willing to offer Tony Kroos a highly profitable contract and are ready to pay a record fee to land the midfielder. David Moyes will be allowed a heavy purse this summer as he looks to build a side that has fallen from grace this season.
Though the midfielder has not made any official statement regarding his future and has claimed that he will take a decision only after the World Cup, reports suggest that he has alerted his team-mates that he is ready to move to Manchester United to start a new chapter in his career. The fact that he hasn’t been able to achieve much prominence in the star-studded Bayern Munich line-up is one of the reasons behind his decision. He is reportedly unhappy with playing second-fiddle to Bastian Schweinsteiger and has been offered a much more prominent and permanent position at Manchester United.
United are in desperate need of a quality central midfielder and last summer’s signing Fellaini has failed in his brief spell at Old Trafford. Hence Manchester United have been exposed by the lack of a good midfielder and Tony Kroos has apparently been promised a more central role at United. If he does come to Manchester United then not only will Kroos take home a significantly heavier paycheck but he will also be the central man at United, something that will take years to achieve at Allianz Arena.
However Manchester United have been on a downward spiral ever since David Moyes took over the reins from Sir Alex Ferguson and hence a move to United at this juncture is highly questionable. Added to the fact that Bayern Munich are enjoying a golden spell at the moment and are likely to continue their domination in the years to come. Pep Guardiola has shown immense faith in the young German midfielder and has given him 22 league starts in 29 fixtures. He is considered as the future captain of the side and hence a move to Manchester United just on the basis of a more profitable contract does not seem to be the right option for the midfielder.
Having claimed that he ‘belongs to Bayern Munich’ last week, the Tony Kroos transfer saga is one that keeps swinging both sides and will last the whole of summer this year. Though he has made his disappointment with the transfer renewal very clear to those in charge at Bayern Munich, the player could just be angling for a better offer from Munich by baiting rival suitors. Also, if Tony Kroos does decide to leave Bayern Munich, clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea are also sure to enter the fray and hence nothing concrete could be said about the midfielder’s future yet.
