Matchday 10 of the Bundesliga sees one of the biggest games of the season when in form Bayern Munich play host to a struggling Borussia Dortmund, and two undefeated sides Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim face each other in an exciting top of the table encounter.

Der Klassiker:

Few would have predicted that when the two German Heavyweights Bayern and Dortmund faced off for the first time in the league this season that there would be a 14 point gap between the two. In fact, Borussia Dortmund are on a five match losing streak and are just one point above the relegation playoff place. On the other hand, Bayern Munich are looking as comfortable as ever and Pep Guardiola will have no worries despite their draw at ‘Gladbach last week. The relationship between the two biggest German clubs has slowly soured over the past few years, with players like Mario Götze and Robert Lewandowski exchanging the Yellow jersey for a Red one. With continues jibes and digs by both sporting directors at one another, tempers will be high in this mouth watering fixture.

Having rested Arjen Robben for the midweek game against Hamburg, Pep Guardiola has a full strength attack to choose from with Franck RIbery and Mario Götze in especially good form. Jürgen Klopp finally has a full strength squad for the trip to Munich. Midfielders Marco Reus and Shinji Kagawa looked in good form against St. Pauli on Tuesday and they will look to begin Dortmund’s steady ascent to the top with a win over their rivals on Saturday at the Allianz Arena.

The home side have not conceded in six consecutive league fixtures this season with keeper Manuel Neuer and defenders Jerome Boateng and David Alaba looking in good form. This should worry Jürgen Klopp’s Dortmund who still haven’t managed to incorporate strikers Ciro Immobile and Adrian Ramos into the team. On the contrary, Dortmund are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Bundesliga, which will worry them. Midfielder Sven Bender will be vital in breaking up play and minimizing Bayern’s time on the ball. Full backs Lukasz Piszcek and Erik Durm or even Sokratis need to be constantly vigilant for attacks down the wings.

Expect a high tempered clash between the two, with Dortmund playing with a furious conviction as it is make or break time for them.

Possible Lineups:

Bayern(3-4-3): Neuer-Benatia-Boateng-Alaba-Rafinha-Bernat-Lahm-Alonso-Robben-Götze-Lewandowski

Dortmund(4-5-1): Weidenfeller-Piszczek-Hummels-Subotic-Sokratis-Bender-Gündogan-Reus-Kagawa-Großkreutz-Aubameyang

Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Battle between the undefeated and other matches:

High flyers Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim meet in Sunday’s big game at Borussia Park where the foals managed to hold off Bayern Munich last week. With both teams level on 17 points, a win for either will bring them to within catching distance of Bayern Munich and boost their hopes of a top four finish.

Having scored 8 goals in their last two games, Stuttgart will look to distance themselves from the relegation spots when they take on Wolfsburg, who are currently third in the table. Schalke will look to bounce back after their first loss under Di Matteo when they host Augsburg on Friday. Hannover meet Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburg play free scoring Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz face a new Werder Bremen, defensively strong Köln meet Freiburg, and promoted Paderborn play host to Hertha Berlin to round up the matches on Matchday 10 of the 2014-15 Bundesliga season.
