David Moyes has been extensively linked with the Real Sociedad managerial job and he will announce his decision to the club on Monday.

According to reports, David Moyes was shortlisted for the job and was one of the front-runners to bag the vacant manager post at Spanish club Real Sociedad. Real Sociedad are currently placed 19th in the Liga table and they have had an alarming bad run so far this season. This lead to the sacking of Jagoba Arrasate and David Moyes, Pepe Mel and Allejandro Sabella were shortlisted to replace him.

Fresh reports indicate that David Moyes has held further talks with Real Sociedad and a decision will be made and Moyes could take up the job as early as Monday. Moyes has been working as a TV pundit for Bein Sports in Qatar but returned to Europe on Thursday for further discussions and to weigh up the offer from the Spanish club. The 51-year old had previously made it clear that he has no problem with coaching in Europe, if the right opportunity comes his way and was strongly linked to Inter Milan recently.

David Moyes was respected and admired for his work at Everton where he spent around 11 years. He then left the Merseyside club and joined Manchester United, succeeding the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson after the latter bid adieu to the game. However, failed to live up to the Manchester United standards and his tenure was a disaster. The Scot was fired in less than 10 months and has been jobless since then.

Real Sociedad have had a terrible start to the season as the Basque club was knocked out of the Europa League in the qualifying round itself and are also struggling in La Liga as they have only managed to win 1 out of the 10 games they have played. The club, based in San Sebastián, have a history of employing British coaches – including the current Welsh manager Chris Coleman and another Welshman John Toshack.

Real Sociedad have made a formal three-year offer to Moyes, and the former Manchester United manager, who has been given a tour of the club’s facilities, has promised to give his decision by Monday. If David Moyes decides to take up the job, his first match as a Real Sociedad manager will come after the International break against Deportivo La Coruña on 22nd November.

If Moyes is to take up the job, he will be allowed to bring his own backroom staff. The Sociedad job offers a great opportunity for Moyes to put behind the Manchester United disaster and revive his managerial career.
