Following his controversial comments regarding Real Madrid’s summer transfer policy, star winger Cristiano Ronaldo has cleared the air by praising his new team-mates and reaffirming his support for Florentino Perez.

Cristiano Ronaldo had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction over the sale of Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso, casting doubt over new recruits Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez. But his comments failed to impress those in charge at Real Madrid and the Portuguese has since then clarified his support for Florentino Perez and his new team-mates.

“My comments have been misinterpreted. I listened to my president yesterday and I’m 100% behind him”.

“The new teammates are top players! And with them we have a great squad. Bring it all on! All the best and come on Real Madrid!”

It is quite interesting to note that Ronaldo singled out his new team-mates for praise just days after expressing his doubt over their ability and questioning the President’s decision to sell players like Di Maria and Alonso.

“If I were in charge, perhaps I wouldn’t have done it like this. But if the President thinks that the best thing for the team is to sign the players he signed, and let others leave, then his decisions must be respected and supported.”

“With the new players, our style is going to change, but it might change for the better or for the worse. Let’s hope it will be for the better because they are top quality players. What usually happens is that they adapt well. Di María and Xabi Alonso were very important to us, but they aren’t here anymore and we have to be happy with the newcomers. I’m sure that things will go well for us”.

Ronaldo’s comments did not go down well with those at Real Madrid with both club vice-captain Sergio Ramos and President Florentino Perez reacting to the situation. While Ramos warned his team-mate to respect the club as the club owned the players, Perez seemed to dismiss rumours of a rift, saying that he understood Ronaldo’s comments.

“I have listened to all the comments he made and as I know him, I know that he never questioned the club. My relationship with him is perfect, there are zero discrepancies.”

It now appears that Cristiano Ronaldo has made peace with those in charge at Real Madrid and seems eager to gel together with his new team-mates Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
