Levante goal keeper Keylor Navas become a hot property in the transfer market with a string of saves for Costa Rica in the FIFA 2014 World Cup. Atletico Madrid have already made a bid for the custodian while Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring his progress.

When FIFA 2014 World Cup draw was made, an unknown North American side was pitted along with 3 World Cup winners in Uruguay, England and Italy. In Group of Death, Costa Rica were branded as the whipping boys by some of the footballing fraternity. With the marquee event entering the quarter final stages, the unknown whipping boys are the only team active from the group.

North American side Costa Rica has done wonders in this World Cup by reaching the quarter final stages for the first time in its history. Costa Rica defeated 2006 World Champions Italy and 2 times winners Uruguay while holding the media hyped England team to earn the top spot in Group D. They created history while defeating Greece in the pre-quarterfinals.

When an unknown team denies the favourites a win or causes an upset, it will be based on a strong defensive performance. Costa Rica’s story is also the same. Their goalkeeper Keylor Navas, has created an indomitable wall between the goal posts which is proving out to be very difficult to get the better of. Keylor Navas, an unknown Levante goal keeper, who was earning a mere 5,000 a week as his salary, has stunned the world with his immaculate displays one after the other.

The pre-quarterfinal match against Greece outlined Keylor Navas’ importance to Costa Rica once again. He pulled amazing saves one after the other in normal time and in extra time, before making the decisive save in the penalty shoot out which booked the quarterfinal date with Netherlands.

Keylor Navas’ World Cup performances has increased his stock in a World Cup dominate by a number of Goal keepers so far. La Liga side Atletico Madrid has placed an offer of 6 million Euros plus a player for the services of Costa Rica’s World Cup hero. Levante on the other hand has made it clear that any side interested in Keylor Navas has to meet his buy-out clause of 10 million Euros to get the in demand player.

“Keylor Navas has a 10million euro release clause and we know that Keylor is worth more than that. All the teams that have made offers for Keylor know what the answer will be – the release clause.”

Atletico Madrid, who are searching for a permanent replacement of Chelsea’s on loan custodian Thibaut Courtois aren’t the only side interested in his signature. English Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool are expected to provide stiff competition to Atletico Madrid for Keylor Navas‘ signature.

Keylor Navas is fully concentrating on the World Cup at the moment and he said that he will evaluate the other things later. We are not sure how long will Costa Rica’s journey will continue at this World Cup, but one thing is for sure 27-year-old Keylor Navas’ story is expected to go on even after the World Cup!
