Match thirty nine of the Hero Indian Super League witnesses a vital clash between Chennaiyin FC and FC Pune City. The match will be played out at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The home matches for the Chennai have been very fruitful , but the crowd in the southernmost state of the country has lived up to the expectations. Both the teams are slotted in the top half of the table and are flirting with the semi final spots. A win here for both the sides will enable them to take a firm step towards securing a playoff spot for sure.

Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC has drawn their last four matches, with the Southern team now welcoming the team from Pune. Marco Materazzi’s side drew against table toppers Atletico de Kolkata earlier in the week, in a game which saw their marquee player Elano, failing to find the back of the net again. The Brazilian, should once again be a sure shot starter in today’s line up. Both Gouramangi Singh and Mendy were on the top of their game at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan to clinch a point. Khabra will once again be assigned the dirty job of sitting in front of the back four. However, besides Elano and Mendoza, the whole Chennai team also have to be on top of their game if they wish to keep the unbeaten record at home.

Probable Starting XI (4-1-2-1-2)Gennaro Bracigliano, Gouramangi Singh, Bernard Mendy, Mikael Silvestre, Dhanachandra Singh, Marco Materazzi, Harmanjot Khabra, Denson Devdas, Elano, Stiven Mendoza, Balwant Singh

Pune City FC

Pune City FC are on a rise since their dismal defeat at the hands of state rivals Mumbai City FC. The Pune side has drawn two and won two since and are currently slotted at the fourth spot in the league table. A side which started slow, now looks to jump to the second spot with a win tonight.  Starting with Nigerian forward Dudu has done wonders for the Franco Colomba led side, the Nigerian has played exceptionally well. Arindham Bhattacharya in the goal has enabled the manager to play an extra foreigner. Greek midfield maestro Kostas would be a key figure in the heart of the midfield. The veteran is an absolute delight to watch and his presence in the midfield do wonders for the Pune City FC. The defensive pair of Bruno Cirilo and Maglliocchetti have looked solid and will look to continue the good work.

Probable Starting XI (4-4-2): Arindham, Ravanan, Cirilo, Maglliocchetti, Kotal, Gurung, Lenny, Kostan, Colomba, Bolado, Dudu.

Chennaiyin FC 1 – 1 Pune City FC

Both the sides are coming off good robust performances and are looking to seal the play off spot now. It will be a showdown between the Abhishek Bachchan co-owned side and the Hritik Roshan backed side. With both the teams trying to avoid a slip up here, we could very well see a scored, but cautious draw.
