Inter Milan wonder kid Mauro Icardi is having a great season in Serie A and reportedly, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco are interested in his services.
Italian website Tuttomarcetoweb has reported today that Possibly leaving Inter on a full basis during next summer, Argentinian international striker Mauro Icardi (21), still co-owned by Sampdoria, is becoming more and more of a primary target for Chelsea, AS Monaco and Atletico Madrid. For the time being,Neroazzurri, which are before set on hiring him back on a full basis from Blucerchiati, are planning to ask 22 million euros plus bonuses for the ownership of former Barcelona FC youth player, equipped with a second Italian passport.
Inter Milan have slapped a £22m price-tag on in-form forward Mauro Icardo with Chelsea said to be keen on luring the Argentine to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in much needed striking additions with the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o failing to consistently deliver the goods.
Icardi joined the Catalan club FC Barcelona at the start of 2008–09 season and was included on the U-17 team. He was promoted to the U-19 team the following season before joining Sampdoria on loan in January 2011.
Having already identified Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa as a key target Mourinho is now looking at former Sampdoria man Icardi.
The 21 year old moved to the San Siro last summer and though he has played a limited role in Walter Mazzarri’s starting eleven he has still produced the goods.
Icardi has netted eight goals in 18 Serie A appearances, of which ten were from the bench and the talented youngster may well feel confident enough of making an impact at Chelsea if he were to join the west London club.
Chelsea may well elect to offload a number of their current forwards to make room for potential additions. Both Eto’o and Ba will see their Blues contracts expire this summer and Torres and youngster Romelu Lukaku could be sold to help fund possible big name signings.
La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in young Italian as Diego Costa is constantly linked with a move abroad.
French club AS Monaco is also keeping tabs on Icardi to partner their ace striker Radamel Falcao next season and having backed by the billionaire, money won’t be a problem for them.
Inter Milan management is looking to sign a “marquee” striker in the summer and may decide to off load the young Italian in order to generate some funds. So, Icardi is a realistic option for all three interested clubs.
