Cesc Fabregas, clearly irked by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has asked him to “mind his own business”.
Jose Mourinho was asked the question of whether Manchester City stood a chance against Barcelona in their Champions League tie. The Portuguese responded by saying:
“Of course, by history, Barcelona is the favourite, but this Barcelona, this season, is showing that it is not the same in previous years.
“Of course they have [Lionel] Messi, he is special, and they have more than him.
“But I think this is the worst Barcelona of many, many years – so City have a chance.”
The Barcelona midfielder, Fabregas, has responded to these comments after Barcelona beat City 2-0 at Eithad:
“He should talk about Chelsea and their tie. I don’t think he should talk about anything else. It is not his business. If we have to get motivated by Mourinho’s comments we shouldn’t play football. We are top of the table, in the cup final, in a good moment in the Champions League.
“But today was one of those days maybe everyone was saying Barcelona was not the same Barcelona… some people were talking a bit too much and as usual they will have to shut up for a few days,” Fabregas told ITV
“We are top of the league, we had a good result and we are in the final of the [Copa del Rey]. There’s nothing else you can ask for.
“But the fans in Spain in general put the most pressure on you as a team – the fans and everyone – and that’s what makes everyone feel so special to this team.”
“We had a great result tonight. The fans put so much pressure on and that’s what makes this so win special. We had a point to prove, and we did it very well”.

Barcelona coach Tata Martino was asked to respond to Mourinho’s comments and coolly said:
“What people say outside games is just a waste of time. We just have to play well in every competition.”
Mourinho’s comments were the latest in the series of word-wars he has launched at various sides and managers. People have called this attack of his at Barcelona as one which would put more pressure on City to win the match against the La Liga side. City are currently competing on four fronts and have been repeatedly told by the Chelsea manager they have the best squad in the Premier League thanks to big spending.
