Virgil van Dijk joined Celtic at the start of this season from FC Groningen and has settled in quickly at Scotland. The 22-year-old has been grabbed a regular place in the starting line-up alongside Efe Ambrose in the center of the defence and has been one of the consistent performer for Celtic this season. Van Dijk, who is highly rated back in Holland and is expected to break into the national team in near future, has grabbed a lot of attention from teams across Europe recently – so much so that only six months after joining the Scottish club, he has already been linked with a move away from Glasgow.

Arsenal and Manchester City have scouted his progress at Celtic and have been linked with a move for the Dutchman. This is not the first time van Dijk has drawn interest from the Premier League. Before he joined Celtic, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers were also eyeing a move for him.

Both Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly looking to strengthen their defence. Thomas Vermaelen’s future at the club has come under a lot of speculations for the Gunners, and they are expected to sign a center-back as a back-up for Mertesacker and Koscielny. Manchester City have also struggled at the back this season with most of the center-backs facing indifferent form and fitness concerns. Joleon Lescott could leave City in the summer and Pellegrini is expected to strengthen at the back.

Virgil van Dijk has also welcomed these links and insisted he is enjoying his football at the moment.

“It’s fantastic that such top teams are being linked to you.

“I haven’t spoken with anyone yet, but it’s always a good sign, but I am enjoying it here at Celtic. The first six months were fantastic.” – The Dutchman said.

He has also refused to rule out a move away from Celtic in this window, stating “everything is possible”.

“It’s a cliche, but in football everything is possible.

“What I know is that I am in a good place here at Celtic and that feels excellent.” – He added.
