Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer confirmed that the Swiss international will stay at the Allianz Arena, denying any possibility for a Liverpool move.
After his recent link-up with Liverpool and rumours about his unhappiness for being stamped as a regular substitute in the squad, Bayern Munich decided to clear off air regarding Xherdan Shaqiri future in Munich.
Club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer stated that the Swiss winger is going nowhere and he is an integral part of their team.
“Xherdan is an important player for the future, there are no thoughts at all about selling him”, the Bayern chief told German newspaper Kicker.
Liverpool had shown interest in buying the Swiss international, and with the departure of Luis Suarez they were willing to splash extra money to get Shaqiri aboard. But this stubborn reply from Bayern side means that Brendan Rodgers will have to look for other options.
A player known as ‘the magic dwarf’ due to his small stature, Shaqiri impressed many with his inspiring performances in the recently concluded World Cup. His precise passing, quick-runs from the wide side were a delight to watch. The pacey winger showed that not only he can get past the opposition defence with his swift pace but he can be extremely lethal with his finishing skills which he displayed with a hat-trick against Honduras in their group game.
At 22, Bayern Munich are looking at him as a long term investment option. The club management will look to gradually instill him into their starting 11 to give him the confidence and a sense of belonging to the squad. He may be chosen to play alongside Robben and Ribery in the midfield to form a deadly strike force. Both Robben and Ribery in their 30’s don’t have age on their side and Shaqiri will definitely find his deserving position in the coming future.
The Bavarian giants will look to continue on their dominance over Bundesliga and European circuit this season as well. Almost all of their players were exceptional in the world cup and they will be hoping for the same from them when the season kicks off.
Toni Kroos, who has been an integral part of the squad has announced to move to Real Madrid in the upcoming season and Bayern will look to rope in a quality midfielder in his place in the upcoming weeks. They have already signed Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund which has definitely strengthen their attacking gameplay.
