Adriano Correia’s agent hinted that the player may possibly move to Serie A this summer.

Barcelona defender Adriano, who had previously been linked with Liverpool, has desired to move to Italy this season. The 29 year old defender’s agent Paulo Affonso in an interview with FcInterNews told that the player is keen to play in Serie A.

Affonso said “Adriano is doing well at Barcelona and we renewed his contract a year ago, It was a two-year extension with the option for a third. The third year option is triggered automatically if Adriano can achieve certain results within the first two guaranteed years of the deal.” The agent also stated that certain things will be discussed with the new manager Luis Enrique about the possible future of the defender at Camp Nou and final decision will be taken accordingly.

Adriano who moved to Barcelona from Sevilla in 2010, has appeared in 90 games for the Catalans since his arrival. He has mostly been used as a substitute at Camp Nou, falling behind the line to Jodi Alba, rarely making a start-up appearance.

Inter Milan are looking to fortify their team for next years Serie A season and It is reported that Inter Milan manager Walter Mazarri is pressing hard to acquire Adriano. Mazarri is also ready to splash as much as 10 million euros to successfully transfer the Brazilian to Inter.

But Affonso dodged the question about Inter Milan’s keenness to buy adriano, He replied “Inter? No one from Inter has spoken with me. It’s been said that Adriano would like to play in the Serie A and it is one of his objectives, but I think it would difficult to achieve at the moment.”

On the other hand, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also keen to sign Adriano. It is reported that the manager has offered 6 million euros for his transfer to Anfield.

It is believed that if a reasonable offer is put forward, Barcelona may well sell Adriano to balance their books and to refill their kitty for some bigger purchasing deal this transfer season.

To clear off any ambiguity in the air,”In any case, I think that he will be playing at a great Italian club in the future.” the agent said while signing off.

It will be interested to see whether Barcelona’s new coach Luis Enrique sees him as a vital part of his future plans or decides to let him go. And with Adriano preferring Serie A over Premier League, Inter Milan will certainly want to grab this opportunity with both hands.
