League leaders Atletico de Kolkata were held to a 1-1 draw, against Kerala Blaster, who even after this match sit at lowly seventh. While head coach Antonio Habas was absent, assistant Angel Barrachina, governed the proceedings.
“If you analyse the points we lost at home, we played at home after a long travel. There was about 48 hours to adjust after the long travel,” Barrachina, accused their congested schedule, while talking to the ISL Media Team.
Goalscorer Baljit Sahni, with his striker, became the third Indian to score, beating veteran keeper David James, in the process.
“It is not important to score against a particular custodian, every goal is important. It’s a good feeling to score for the team.” commented Baljit.
While Atletico dropped points, Kerala gained their first of the Super League season.
“It feels really good. This has been my home ground for a long time and I have a lot of fond experiences here. The crowd loves me and has been a great support always, so it always gives me an extra motivation to play here.” said Kerala’s Mehtab Hossain.
Mehtab believe that this result, could put the Kerala season back on track, he said “They are a good team, they have a nice midfield and have been the best team of the tournament so far, and that is why this result is quite satisfactory for us”.
Even after a draw, Kerala sit seventh, with a clash against FC Pune City, next.
“We have taken our first point home. This will be a boost for us. I am sure the team will lift its performance as time progresses.”concluded Mehtab.
