Arsenal FC suffer another injury blow as new signing Kim Kallstrom is ruled out for six games with a back injury.

Kim Kallstrom was the only new arrival at the Emirates in what turned out to be a fairly disappointing winter transfer window for the Gunners. The 31-year-old was signed on loan from Spartak Moscow till the end of this season as Arsene Wenger looked to add more depth to injury stricken squad. There has been a lot of concerns regarding the fitness of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere recently, while Mathieu Flamini has managed to earn himself a three-match suspension following his red card against Southampton. These have left Arsene Wenger short on options at the center of the park and Kallstrom was hoping to fill in that role.

But now it has been revealed that the 31-year-old has been ruled out for the next six games after being diagnosed with a back injury. Initially it was reported that the midfielder picked up this injury during his first training session at the club, but BBC journalist David Ornstein has now revealed on twitter that Kallstrom was already carrying this injury when he was signed on the deadline day.

The Swedish international has reportedly picked up this injury during Spartak Moscow’s preseason tour at Abu Dhabi. Arsenal were aware of this injury while Kallstrom underwent his medical at the club, but Arsene Wenger had supposedly given a go ahead for this move despite that. This report of course comes as a surprise considering Arsenal needed cover in the midfield at this point of the season. Arsenal are yet to make any official announcements on these reports.
