Manchester United star winger Angel Di Maria could be unavailable against Arsenal this weekend after suffering a hard knock in the friendly between Argentina and Portugal while David De Gea is reported to be close to making a full recovery.

Brought on for  £59.7 million in the summer, Manchester United will be anxious to get Angel Di Maria back in track for the game against Arsenal after having already lost Carrick, Blind and De Gea to injuries during the international break. With Rojo, Evans and Phil Jones also injured, Manchester United are suffering from a severe injury crisis at Old Trafford.

To add to their woes, Di Maria suffered a hard knock from United’s very own Nani, who is currently on loan to Sporting Lisbon, and has been sent for further tests and examinations.Despite the injury, Angel Di Maria was asked to continue and was only taken off much later in the game.

“We don’t think it is anything serious. It was quite a tough blow that he took. It was a tough knock. It cut the skin a little bit. But we have had a look at it and we are evaluating the situation.”

“We are having a look at some X-rays, some images that have been taken but in spite of that we don’t think it is too serious.”

The Argentine later took to twitter to reach out the fans and revealed that he was hoping to make it for the game against Arsenal.

“It was just a blow. I hope it does not swell anymore so I can play at the weekend.”

Meanwhile according to reports, David De Gea  is making fast progress after dislocating his finger with the Spanish national team and has a good chance of regaining his fitness before Saturday’s clash against Arsenal.

It is surprising that despite dislocating his finger, De Gea stayed put with the Spanish national team and did not return to Manchester. He was even named in the substitutes both against Belarus and Germany indicating that his injury is not as bad as it was first expected to be.

Manchester United will be relieved to have their star goal-keeper back in time for the clash against Arsenal. Already without several key players, United have been suffering from a series of injuries and will sorely miss De Gea if he is unable to feature on Saturday. The Gunners are currently a point ahead  of Manchester United and are sitting on the 6th spot, one above Manchester United.
