Arsenal FC transfer target Serge Aurier has insisted that he won’t be able to turn down an offer from the Gunners.
Toulouse might be wandering at mid-table in Ligue 1 at the moment, but the Serge Aurier is having a wonderful season personally. The 21-year-old has arguably been Toulouse’s best player this season and has already scored six goals along with six assists this season – wonderful statistics for a right back. Serge Aurier’s progress since joining Toulouse in 2012 has also earned him call-up for the national team and he has already made seven appearances for the Ivory Coast side since making his debut last year. He has grown in stature this season and has display tremendous maturity for a player of his age – and this has drawn interest from a lot of clubs across Europe.
Aurier, who signed a contract extension till 2018 last year, has been scouted by Chelsea, Newcastle United, AC Milan, Aston Villa and Juventus. But the club who has linked most with the former Lens fullback are Arsenal. The Gunners have been scouting the Ivorian since 2012 and are reportedly lining up a move for him in the summer as they look to replace Bacary Sagna. The French international’s future at the club remains in doubt and most expect him to leave the Emirates in the summer. Arsene Wenger is believed to be impressed by Serge Aurier’s progress this season and has marked him to be the eventual replacement for Sagna in the side.
Serge Aurier has now also expressed his desire to play for the Gunners and has insisted that it will be impossible for him to turn them down.
“You cannot refuse Arsenal. You can ask any player if he would play for Arsenal and I think he would respond positively without hesitation.
“It is certain that Arsenal is a dream.” – Aurier said in an interview.
French clubs PSG and Monaco have also been recently linked with the young right back, but Aurier insists that he would prefer to play in the Premier League as it suits his style of play.
“PSG and Monaco are building and, within two or three years, may be the best teams in the world.
“But I’m talking more in terms of the championship, I would like to see another championship. It is not a question of the level of teams, it’s just that there are other interesting championships.
“England is a championship where smaller clubs can beat the bigger clubs. Everyone would like to play there, this is a championship which is a little crazy, with a great atmosphere in the stadiums.
“This is the league that suits me the most, in terms of my commitment, my playing style. Later, Germany and Spain may also be pleasant.” – He added.
These comments will provide great boost to Arsenal’s interest in signing him, but Toulouse are unlikely to let him go cheaply after tying him down to a long-term contract. Reports suggest that the French club won’t entertain any bid below €8 million for the 21-year-old.
