Arsenal FC have been linked with a move for FC Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello as Arsene Wenger prepares to add reinforcements to a squad riddled with injuries.

The 22 year old Spanish winger has been sparingly used by Barcelona this season, starting only two league games so far in the campaign. Tello has earned an excellent reputation and is known for his speed and dribbling abilities, along with his ability to link up well with his team mates. Climbing up the ranks at Barcelona gradually, Wenger is looking to jump-start Tello’s career at Arsenal with the intention of deepening his squad. Arsenal have a hectic schedule ahead of them in February and Wenger’s failure to add reinforcements might result in another dry season for the London based club.

There was also speculation in the market that Arsenal are reportedly interested in Southampton’s striker Jay Rodriguez. With Giroud spearheading the team’s attack, Wenger understands the need to have a second striker in the squad in case of an injury. Sitting on the second spot in the league table, a point behind Manchester City, Arsenal’s title aspirations have been dealt a severe blow due to the mounting injuries in the squad. With the season entering its climax, Arsene Wenger is well aware that he cannot afford to slip up in terms of squad depth.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Arsenal made a bid for Lille’s Salomon Kalou, which was rejected by the French club.

With a few hours to go before the transfer window closes for the season,  Arsenal seem to have made an attempt to sign former Chelsea player, Saloman Kalou on loan. Kalou has figured prominently in Lille’s campaign this season after having featured in all its league matches and it seems that Lille have decided not to part with their striker.

With Walcott, Ramsey, Diaby and Wilshere battling injuries and Flamini suspended for three games, Wenger has been keen to bring reinforcements to Arsenal this January. But a failed bid to secure Salomon Kalou means that Wenger is left with a couple of hours to secure a much-needed transfer. It now remains to be seen what this transfer window will bring Wenger and his boys back at London. Having asserted themselves firmly in this year’s campaign, Arsenal faithful will be hoping for an exciting transfer to bolster their title aspirations.
