Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is desperate to get Gunners’ season back on track and the club is planning a double swoop of Joao Moutinho and Tyrone Mings in the January transfer window.

Title hopes of Arsenal are almost over now as they are 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea and the only realistic target of Arsene Wenger is to secure a Champions League place for next season.

Arsenal are in the market for a long term replacement of Mikel Arteta and Joao Moutinho of AS Monaco is attracting the interest of Arsene Wenger. The club is also interested in signing a quality young defender. Tyrone Mings of Ipswich town is considered as the future of English football and Arsenal have joined Chelsea in the chase of this exciting talent.

Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Arsenal in Joao Moutinho and Tyrone Mings. The Daily Mirror has claimed in its report that: “Arsene Wenger will make a January bid to sign Ipswich’s hot property Tyrone Mings. Mirror Sport revealed this week Chelsea have joined the long list of admirers for 21-year-old Mings as they look for a long-term successor for John Terry. But Gunners boss Wenger is keen to fend off Chelsea and Ipswich are well aware that Arsenal want to take the versatile defender in January.”

After the departure of Thomas Vermaelen, Arsenal are over dependent on Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertasacker this season and Arsene Wenger himself has spoken about his desire to sign a top quality central defender.

Tyrone Mings, 21, has made a good name for himself at Ipswich Town and many of the top flight clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, are scouting him since past few weeks.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign Tyrone Mings as a long termMoutinho_(c)_soccer_(dot)_mu successor of John Terry but they are not expected to make a move in January. The Arsenal management could take this opportunity and make an initial offer in the winter transfer window.

Another player who is expected to play for Arsenal in the latter half of the season is AS Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho. Various reports coming from England and Italy have confirmed the entry of Arsenal in chase of Manchester United target Joao Moutinho. This move suits both the parties as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign a long term heir of Mikel Arteta while Joao Moutinho is eager to leave his current club.

Joao Moutinho is also a target of Manchester United but Arsenal management believes that an offer in the region of 28-30 million pounds would be enough to lure him away in January.
