Arsenal are in desperate need of a holding midfielder and they are plotting a January move for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for a holding midfielder since the summer itself and he has now set his eyes a Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who usually plays in a more advanced role for the Magpies.

Moussa Sissoko, who moved to Newcastle United from Toulouse in 2013, has already spoken about his admiration of Arsenal and Arsene Wenger believes that an offer of 16 million euros would be able to get him his man.

Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Arsenal in Moussa Sissoko. The Daily Mail has claimed in its report that Arsene Wenger has had his eye on a new holding midfielder since the summer and, despite the fact he usually plays in an advanced role for Newcastle, Sissoko features highly on Arsenal’s list of targets.

Arsenal are currently struggling for form in the Premier League as they sit at the 6th position, 4 points behind 4th placed West Ham United. Arsene Wenger has already confirmed that he will spend in the January transfer window but signing a top quality defender is going to be the first priority of Arsenal as Laurent Koscielny is struggling for the fitness of late.

However, Arsene Wenger is looking to add more depth to his ailing midfield as well and along with Moussa Sissoko, Sami Khedira of Real Madrid is also attracting the interest of the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, the factor going in favour of Arsenal regarding Moussa Sissoko is the willingness of the player to join Gunners.

Moussa Sissoko said earlier this month: “I have ambition. My goal is to play at the best clubs, playing the Champions League, win trophies, but today I am a Magpie and I am very happy.”

“Arsenal were my favourite club when I was young and my idol was Patrick Vieira. I have always loved this club and I still love them.”

However, the unwillingness of Newcastle United to sale Moussa Sissoko in the middle of the season could prove a stumbling block in this potential integral part of Alan Perdew’s Newcastle United this season and the coach is not willing to part ways with one of his regular starters.
