Inter Milan have made an initial offer for Lukas Podolski to Arsenal but Arsene Wenger has criticized the Nerazzuri approach by calling it ‘a joke’.
Lukas Podolski is struggling to get a regular playing time at Arsenal this season and being aware of his current situation, Italian giants Inter Milan are ready to offer him an escape.
Winter transfer window is about to open on 1st January and Inter Milan have already submitted a loan offer to Arsenal for Podolski. However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has criticized the offer of Inter Milan by calling it a joke and said that the Nerazzuri are not serious.
“They talk. There is only talks. Podolski is a player of Arsenal football club and I want him to stay,” Arsene Wenger insisted.
“Apart from that, what is to be professional is that as long as you are somewhere, you give your best to justify your wages and your love for the club.
“I hope that he will still be an Arsenal player at the end of January. Inter Milan? That is a joke. Inter Milan are not serious.”
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not particularly happy with the performances of Podolski this season and he is ready to let him go as he has set his eyes on signing other top quality attackers.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has admitted his interest in the Arsenal attacker. Mancini expressed his disappointment on missing out on Cerci but said that Podolski is a good player and he is interested in signing him.
“I’m not angry about Cerci (who joined AC Milan), and Podolski is a good player,” Mancini told Sportmediaset.
“Podolski is one of a number of players we’re following, we’ll see what happens. As for Cerci, we never started negotiations for him, we looked at him, as many did.”
Inter Milan are currently struggling for form in Serie A and they are expected to spend big in the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, another player who is being linked with a move to Inter Milan is former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra. Robert Mancini also admitted his interest in Diarra.
“The former Real Madrid man is a very good player,” Mancini said. “There are problems between him and Lokomotiv Moscow. We’ll see.”
