Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger has downplayed Sami Khedira rumours, while insisting that the club could possibly make two more signing this summer.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are still in the transfer market for a defensive midfielder and a center back and Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal could still make two new signing this summer. But the Frenchman has also downplayed rumours linking them with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The German international has been linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer. He , along with William Carvalho and Morgan Schneiderlin, is believed to be in Arsene Wenger’s wish list for this summer as he looks for a long-term replacement of Mikel Arteta in the defensive half of the midfield.

Initial reports suggested that Real Madrid are keen to offload Khedira and are willing to reach an agreement with Arsenal, but the German midfielder’s high wage demands has proved to be a stumbling block in this move. But Arsene Wenger has denied making any offer for Khedira in this transfer window. When asked whether he has enquired about his availability, Wenger said: “What is enquire for you?

“I don’t know. If I read the newspapers, he is available“.

The Frenchman has refused to provide any names, but insisted that the club to make two more signings this summer.

“Who’s next? I don’t know. There could still be one signing, maximum of two. If a good opportunity comes up we might still do it, but at the moment we are not close to signing anybody.

“I’m very happy with the squad I have available at the moment, but we might be a little bit short maybe at the back.” – The Arsenal manager said.

With reports of Thomas Vermaelen close to departing from the Emirates, the Gunners will have to sign one more center back, despite the arrival of Calum Chambers. While a solid defensive midfielder, something which they have lacked for a long time, will surely turn them into one of the favourites to lift the title next season.
