Napoli and Italy striker Lorenzo Insigne is ‘honoured’ by reported interest from Arsenal, according to the agent of player.

Arsenal are in the market for a top quality attacker as they are over dependent on French international Olivier Giroud.

English newspaper Metro had reported yesterday that: “Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has added Insigne to his list of transfer targets as he looks to add to his attacking options during the forthcoming transfer window. And Wenger has told his scouts to keep a close eye on the 23-year-old, who is likely to play a key role in the Italy squad that will face England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Brazil.”

Now, Antonio Ottaiano, the agent of the player has confirmed today that he and his client feels honoured about the reported interest of the London based club.

“We take into account the praising reports that Wenger has given about the

player,” Ottaiano told  Italian website “We are honoured that a club like Arsenal could have Lorenzo on their wish list.

“However, from here to take it to the next level, that is a possible transfer, there is a huge mountain in between named Napoli.”

However, the agent said he is very cautious about the interest of Arsenal it will be the management of Napoli, who will take the final call over the future of Isigne.

“The (Naples) club consider him without a shadow of a doubt as one of their cardinal players for their ambitious project.

“Hence, as of today, I don’t see that there can be any further developments unless Arsenal speak to Napoli directly and Napoli change their view on Lorenzo’s role here.”

Lorenzo Isigne is a part of Italy’s World Cup squad and currently preparing himself for the tournament in Brazil.

Scouts of Arsenal have been watching Isigne for quite a while now and they have given positive reports about him to Arsene Wenger. And if the player enjoys good tournament in Brazil, it would enough for the Arsenal management to splash the cash on youngster.

Isigne is considered as one of the brightest young players of Italy. He made 36 league appearances as Napoli finished third in Serie A and he is under contract with the club until June 2018.

Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see whether Napoli management and and Coach rafa Benitez allows Insigne to leave the club. The South Italians have qualified for the Champions League next season and unlike other clubs of the Peninsula, enjoy healthy financial condition.

Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain is the first choice striker of Rafa at the moment but Insigne has shown a rapid progress since last two years and hence, the Spanish coach considers him as an important member of his squad.
