Reports suggest that Mathieu Debuchy has completed his medical ahead of his move from Newcastle United to Arsenal FC.

Mathieu Debuchy has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer as the Gunners looked to replace Bacary Sagna, who joined Manchester City, and recent reports suggest that the French international has completed his medical ahead of his £8 million move to the Emirates from Newcastle United.

Debuchy joined Newcastle United from Lille in January transfer window of 2013 and became a permanent fixture in the line-up since his arrival. The 29-year-old right back made 28 starts in the league for Newcastle United last season and produced some eye catching performances.

Debuchy earned a place in the French national team squad that flew to Brazil and became their first choice right back, ahead of former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna.

Arsenal are expected to spend heavily in this transfer market and a new right back was at the top of their priority list after Bacary Sagna decided to join Manchester City. The Gunners have been linked with a lot of possible replacement for the Frenchmen. Arsenal were initially considering a move for Toulouse defender Serge Aurier, but Arsene Wenger was keen to add a more experienced player to his squad. While another target, Atletico Madrid right back Juanfran, decided to extend his contract with the Spanish club.

Debuchy earlier admitted his desire to play in the Champions League, and has also revealed that they are in talks with Arsenal regarding a move. Newcastle United are already in the market for his replacement. The Magpies have been linked to a move for Manchester City defender Micah Richards and Dutch international Daryl Janmaat.

Reports suggest that the transfer fee involved in this move is £8 million with add-ons based on his appearances for the Gunners. The length of his contract is yet to be discussed, but the 29-year-old is unlikely to be handed over a long-term contract. Newcastle United are also believed to be interested in signing Carl Jenkinson, the Arsenal right back, but the London club are unlikely to part ways with him. Debuchy will be officially revealed in the coming days and will be first of many signings Arsenal are expected to complete this month.
