Galatasaray are lining up a loan deal for Arsenal FC winger Lukas Podolski and representatives of the Turkish club have arrived at London to open talks.
Lukas Podolski’s future at Arsenal has come under increased speculation this summer, especially with the rise Joel Campbell and the arrival of Alexis Sanchez. Recent reports in Turkish media suggest that Galatasaray are keen to sign the German international on loan and they have already sent their delegates to London to discuss a move.
Podolski arrived from Koln in 2012 and made 33 appearances in his first season at the Emirates. But the German international’s had limited first team opportunities last season as he made only 14 starts in the league. He struggled a bit with his fitness at the start of last season, but he did produce some important performances in the second half of the season. The German international ended with 12 goals in 27 appearances and was selected in the German World Cup squad, although he made only two appearances in the cup winning run of the team.
Following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and the rise of Joel Campbell, Lukas Podolski is unlikely to get too many starts next season, especially in the Premier League. The ee29-year-old is still keen to extend this stay at the Emirates, but reports suggest that the Arsenal forward is being monitored by a host of clubs across Europe.
Monaco and Borussia Dortmund were initially linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich forward, but reports in Turkish media suggest that Galatasaray are keen on signing Podolski on loan this summer. Delegates of the Turkish side have arrived at London to discuss a move with Arsenal as they want to push through this deal. Galatasaray was initially interested on signing Joel Campbell on loan as well, but had to turn their attention towards Podolski after Arsene Wenger’s insistence on retaining the Costa Rican forward this season.
