Arsenal are set to have a busy January it seems, if reports are to be believed. Not only are they going to finally resolve their defensive crisis, it seems they’re hell bent on improving their forward line even further, with the addition of Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzukic, if it is recalled, joined Atletico Madrid from Bayern Munich over the summer. However, he has not had the greatest time in Spain and reports are coming in strongly that Diego Simeone is looking at Mauro Icardi and would be willing to sell Mandzukic. And Arsenal seem to be in the drivin
g seat to sign him up.

Although, Mandzukic insists that he is happy in Spain despite struggling so far.

In a recent interview, he said, “I had better offers than from Atletico.

There were calls from the UK that interested me, but I believe that their style of football is simply not my way. There were also interest from Italy and some concrete offers from Russia.

I’m very pleased with everything. I couldn’t choose a better path after leaving Bayern Munich. The fans here accepted me immediately. Atletico was the best possible decision for me at this stage of my career.”

In other news, Arsenal seem to be making strides in solving the defensive midfielder crisis by going for Sevilla’s Grzegorz Krychowiak. According to The Express, Arsenal are willing to meet the release clause of 24 million that the player has in his contract. For Sevilla, it would turn out to be a very good return as they bought the player for as little as 4.5 million.

More than Mandzukic, Arsenal would be better off spending their money on him as the need of the hour is not more goals, but how to stop the bleeding at the back. While Mikel Arteta is certainly an intellighent player and carries out his role to the best of his ability. Mathieu Flamini, while sometimes having a few good games, is not up to speed in the current set up where the forward line rarely comes back to help out in defence. But with this signing, Arsene Wenger would have resolved the problem in one stroke!
