Arsenal FC are lining up a move for Everton right-back Seamus Coleman as they continue their search for a new right back.

The Gunners are expected to spend heavily in the summer and a new right back is at the top of Arsene Wenger’s priority list. Arsenal are currently left with only Carl Jenkinson as their only right back in the first team squad after the departure of Bacary Sagna. The Frenchman rejected Arsenal’s offer for a new contract and have now signed for Manchester City for free.

The London club have been linked with a host of full-backs, as a possible replacement for Sagna, and Everton defender Seamus Coleman is the latest name added to that list. Arsenal are also reportedly considering moves for Serge Aurier and Schalke defender Atsuto Uchida, yet Wenger is willing to check if Everton entertain a bid for the Irish footballer.

The 25-year-old produced phenomenal performances all throughout the season and was the best right back in the league. Everton enjoyed a wonderful season under Roberto Martinez and the arrival of the former Wigan Athletic manager seemed to brought the best out of former Sligo Rovers defender. He was solid defensively, but it was his contribution in attack, which has earned him all the plaudits. Coleman scored six goals in the league as he and Leighton Baines terrified opponents down the wings.

This is not the first time Arsenal have been linked with Coleman though, the Irish international has been monitored by the Gunners for a long time and reports suggested that they were considering a move for him in January as well. Coleman has also drawn interest from Manchester United and AC Milan, but it is the London club who are willing to pursue their interest in this summer.

Seamus Coleman’s current contract expires in 2018 and the Merseyside club are unlikely to be willing to part ways with their prized asset. Arsenal might have to pay over the top to sign the Everton defender.
