Arsenal and Manchester City are rumoured to be in the race to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus for a fee suggested to be around £40million.
Either Arsenal or Manchester City could be Paul Pogba’s next destination as both clubs from the Premier League look set to battle each other for the midfielder’s signature. Recent reports have suggested that the Gunners are ready to cough up £40 million to rival Manchester City in acquiring the highly-rated Frenchman’s services.
Paul Pogba, 21, left Manchester United in 2012 to join Juventus on a free transfer after growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of playing time that Sir Alex Ferguson allowed him at Old Trafford. Pogba has been impressive during his time in Italy winning back-to-back Serie A titles. Pogba’s performances have attracted a lot of attention and the midfielder has often been linked with a move away from Juventus with the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain rumoured to be interested in his services.
Arsenal are said to be on the look-out for a defensive midfielder and will be looking to sign one in January. It is rumoured that Arsene Wenger might be ready to empty his pockets in order to sign the sensational youngster. The Gunners would be willing to meet Juventus’ £40 million valuation if the Italian club are willing to negotiate a transfer. Arsene Wenger was interested in signing the midfielder from Manchester United two years ago on a free transfer, but missed out after Juventus were able to lure him to the club.
Manchester City are said to be eyeing the French international as a direct replacement for Yaya Toure. The two players have a similar playing style and Pogba is the perfect fit to succeed the 31-year old Toure. Manchester City are known to be big spenders and the £40 million price tag will do no good in deterring their interest in the midfielder.
Manchester United have also been vocal in their interest in bringing him back to the club, but Pogba has spoken of his reluctance to return to the Red Devils following his messy departure. Carlo Ancelotti had also spoken words of praise for the player and indicated there might be a possibility of Pogba playing for Real Madrid in the future.
If Juventus agree to consider a transfer offer from any clubs for Paul Pogba, many will surely be interested in acquiring the midfielder’s services.
