AC Milan fullback Luca Antonini is on Besiktas radar whereas David Moyes is looking to raid his former club once more, this time for Fellaini. Also, Suarez is adamant for a move away during this transfer window.
Luca Antonini on Besiktas radar
The former Milan youth product has seen his involvement in the first team reduce by the years. After prolonged loan spells with various teams, he was finally drafted into the first team in 2008. However, he did not cement his place there and as a result was often found on the bench. Even during the last transfer window, Antonini was linked with a move away from Milan. Now 31, Antonini has only one year left on his contract and Milan are unlikely to offer him an extension since both De Sciglio and Constant have more or less cemented their place in the first team.
However, should Milan not offer him a contract extension, he will leave for free next summer and that is something which will not appeal to Milan. Antonini might still have a good 2-3 years of football left in him and it will be ideal if he moves away now rather than at a later stage. Also, that way, Milan will not lose out on the transfer fee and it will be a win-win situation for everyone. Besiktas has recently shown interest in Antonini after Taiwo joined them from Milan during this summer. Blighted by injuries, Antonini’s time was cut short last season and whenever he was fit, there was either De Sciglio or Constant who was fielded instead of him.
Milan might look to cash him in now but with their defensive players getting injured at the drop of a hat, they might look for a backup before letting him go.
Moyes looking to negotiate a deal for Fellaini
David Moyes might raid his old club once more this transfer season with his target this time being none other than Marouane Fellaini, a player whom he signed from Standard Leige for £15m in 2008. After his unsuccessful bid for Baines, Moyes might be more determined to bring Fellaini in now rather than later. His unsuccessful bids for Fabregas might spur him on to focus on Fellaini with greater intent.
Manchester United’s midfield has lost Paul Scholes last season and with Giggs too taking on a player-coach role, the once mighty midfield might be bereft of experience at crunch times during the season. Keeping this in mind, Moyes has been tempted to sign midfielders rather than any other players during this transfer window. Already Moyes has tried to bring in Fabregas, while there have been rumors that he might go for Luka Modric too. With Arsenal having the first refusal on Fabregas’ transfer, Moyes has rightfully turned his attention to bringing a player from his former workplace to his new club. Last season Fellaini scored as many as 12 goals for Everton, a fact which will not get lost on United supporters.
Suarez saga turns sour
Luiz Suarez has often been a trouble for Liverpool but never was he disloyal to their cause. However, the winds of change are blowing pretty strong now, with Suarez now claiming he is willing to go any distance should Liverpool refuse to sell him this summer.
After finishing in the seventh place last season, Liverpool have been ruled out for Europe yet another time. And that seems to have incensed the Uruguayan to take this drastic step, if reports are to be believed. After his brief flirtation with Real Madrid at the beginning of the season, the rumors of his move died down with the player being apparently focused on staying at Anfield. Liverpool have stood by him through the thick and thin, most recently following the biting incident with Ivanovic. The ban imposed on him denied him the chance to play for quite some time in England, which was the initial motive behind his transfer.
However, the fans were still behind the beleaguered striker and he was given a warm reception in Steven Gerrard’s testimonial match. The latest revelations will surely come as a harsh news for the ardent supporters, who now might be looking to start the new season without him.
