Latest Transfer News – Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC and Fulham are fighting it out for Swedish defender Alexander Milošević.
Alexander Milošević’s stock has been on the rise for quite some time and the 21-year-old is currently being monitored by a host of European clubs. Milošević, who joined AIK back in 2011, has made 35 appearances for the club so far. He has been a regular in Andreas Alm’s side this season and his brilliant performances has also earned him a call up for the national side.
Interestingly Milošević played as a striker till he was 17, before being moved to the role of a central midfielder. Eventually he was pushed back to the defence where he flourished. He started his youth career on the international stage playing for the Serbian U17 team, but eventually was drafted in the Swedish U19 side.
Last summer AIK received an offer from Werder Bremen, but they turned down that bid of €6 million from the German club. Milošević is in the final year of his contract and AIK are preparing themselves to receive offer in January. But the Swedish side is unlikely to let him go for anything less than €10 million.
AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt are already monitoring his progress, while Liverpool, Arsenal, Celtic, Fiorentina and now Fulham are expected to scout him during Sweden’s U21 match against Poland this week.
“Several clubs from England are following him.” – Jens Anderson (Football Director of AIK)
Last year his agent said that Milošević will stay at the club for one more year before making his big move. While Arsenal and Liverpool are attractive destinations, Fulham manager Martin Jol is determined to land him ahead of them in January. Milošević is unlikely to get regular first team action at either Arsenal or the Merseyside clubs, but at Fulham he is likely to challenge the likes of Senderos, Amorebieta and Hangeland for a place in the side.
