‘Bosnian Diamond’ to Spurs?
Tottenham Hotspurs have joined the chase to land City striker Edin Dzeko. The player who is a hot-topic of every transfer window is being closely monitored by Serie A clubs, notably Napoli and Milan.
Goal.com reports that Spurs have expressed an interest in attaining the Bosnia international.
Although, Dzeko has about one and a half years left on his contract and hence is in a strong position to negotiate a cut-price move, it is not highly unlikely that he will push for a move out of Eithad Stadium. It is also unlikely that Pellegrini will want to sell him to Premier League rivals, Tottenham.
Dzeko has clearly fallen behind the ranks of Aguero and summer signing Negredo, yet he has apparently most recently been placated by Pellegrini, with the City boss likening him to Ibrahimovich.
Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini is reported to have made contact with Dzeko’s representatives in the search for Tottenham attaining a domineering front line and with AVB wanting to land a tried and tested Premier League goal-scoring striker.
AVB doesn’t guarantee Soldado a start ahead of Liverpool game
The £26 million Roberto Soldado would have been relieved after his hat trick against Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League group match on Thursday. The Spaniard ended his dry spell in the Whites of Spurs and managed to silence critics who thought that the Spanish international can’t score except from the penalty spot.
However, Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas has not guarenteed the 28 year old with a spot in the starting lineup against visitors Liverpool on Sunday, calling an assurance of a start ‘premature’.
It’s a bit premature. We always wanted to give this game to Roberto, after two games in a row for Jermain, who was deserving his chance as well. Now it’s about putting the best possible strategy of the game and seeing what we can do.
But the Portuguese was nothing short with Soldado’s hat trick which enabled the Lilywhites to retain their 100% winning record in the competition, moving forward to the knockout phase.
It was extremely important for him to get back to scoring. I’m extremely happy for him. He’s been waiting for a moment like this and it finally happened tonight with a hat-trick. It will be major boost for a player who has been very professional and deserve the respect.
Friedel confident ahead of Liverpool clash
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel believes that his club is playing Liverpool at the right time due to the Liverpool’s injury list.
We are getting Liverpool at a good time with their injuries. Obviously they have Luis Suarez and he is scoring goals for fun but, take the Man City game out of it, we have been very strong defensively. We are really looking forward to Sunday and if can get these points on the board then I think our season is looking very healthy.
Liverpool currently have League’s top assist drawer and captain Gerrard out for a month at least due to a hamstring injury. The club is also without 9 goal man Daniel Sturridge, who was influential enough to not let his side feel Suarez’ absence in the first five games.
