The 23-year-old forward has been Fiorentina’s most influential player in the last two seasons. The Montenegrin international has already scored 12 goals in the league this season and is currently the top scorer for his club by some distance. But there is more to Jovetic’s game than just goals. He is brilliant at setting up goals for his team mates as well as finishing them, and given his young age, he is only likely to improve with experience. It must also be remembered that the forward missed out the whole of 2010-11 season with an injury and has looked stronger with every passing season.
Jovetic have been previously linked with Italian giants Juventus and many believe that the Turin club is still the favourite to land him. But Arsenal and Manchester City have joined the race for his signature after what has been a disappointing season for both clubs. Both Arsenal and City are expected to spend heavily in the summer as they look to build a squad which can challenge for silverware next season.
The Fiorentina striker has now confirmed his interest in the Premier League and has welcomed the rumour linking him with a move to Arsenal or Manchester City.
“It sure is nice when you are interesting big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City,” he told the Daily Star.
“It feels good because the English game currently has probably the strongest league in the world. I’m very comfortable in Italy but the Premier League is at the top of the football world – and perhaps the best.
“We will see what happens in the future.” – Jovetic was quoted in press.
But Fiorentina’s high demands might ward off few interested clubs in the summer. The 23-year-old is one of the most coveted youngster in Europe and he won’t come cheap.
