Media Reports from England suggest that Arsenal have opened formal talks with Atletico Madrid for Adrian Lopez whose release clause stands at £14m. Another rumor has is that Villas-Boas is interested in Schalke’s Lewis Holtby who will be a free agent this summer
With Theo Walcott’s situation still unclear and the disappointment surrounding Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud becoming apparent with each passing day, Arsene Wenger now seems to be looking at the Spanish capital to add an extra striker to his squad. Adrian Lopez is 24 and has already established himself well enough at Atletico Madrid.
He has already made his national debut for Spain and can play the role of a supporting striker as well alone upfront. But the Spanish striker has more than two years left on his contract and will be tough to sign on a cheap price. Atletico are reported to be expecting atleast £15m from the North London in exchange for his services. Considering how Arsenal tend to offer as much as possible, it remains to be seen if this deal will really go through.
With Arsenal looking at strikers for the present, their rivals Tottenham are looking at the future. The Daily Mail reports that Villas-Boas is interested in Schalke’s Lewis Holtby who will be a free agent this summer. The German international has already rejected a contract extension worth £50,000 a week and is sure to move to a different club. Tottenham are expected to offer a pre-contract deal to lure him to London beating Arsenal and Liverpool who were also monitoring Holtby.
Villas-Boas was frustrated in the summer as his efforts to sign Moutinho from Porto ended in waste and if Holtby is signed, Moutinho may have no future at White Hart Lane.
