Liverpool and West Ham United target Wilfried Bony is prepared to shun interests from England and wants to play in Italy.
Wilfried Bony has attracted interest from all over Europe in recent times. His agent has previously confirmed that they have been contacted by English, German and Russian clubs. The 24-year-old, who joined Vitesse from Sparta Prague back in 2011, has been in fine goal scoring form for the Dutch club.
Bony has already racked up 18 goals in 19 appearances this season. But most importantly he has been consistent in front of the goal for the past 3-4 seasons now. The striker has scored 43 goals in his last 68 appearances for Vitesse and Sparta Prague. It is this consistency that has attracted interested from big European clubs.
Liverpool and West Ham United are interested in signing the 24-year-old striker, but will face fierce competition in the summer with Russian giants Anzhi and Zenit interested in him. Two Italian clubs – Napoli and AC Milan – are also reportedly lining up a bid for him this summer.
Interestingly, Wilfried Bony was on trial at Liverpool back in 2007, as an 18-year-old kid who played for Ivorian club Issia Wazi back then. But he was not offered a contract by the Mersey side club back then and Liverpool might be left to rue that miss now as his agent, Francis Kacou, has revealed that despite interests from England and Russia, Bony wants to play in Italy.
“I have received several offers from clubs in England and Russia, but the boy is more excited about playing in Italy.” Kacou told Voetbal International.
Inter are latest Italian club who have been rumoured to have strong interest in the striker. It would be interesting to see if Liverpool make one final attempt at signing the Ivorian international – but it remains a classic case of the ‘the boy who got away’ for the Merseyside club.
