Pedro Rodriguez – Liverpool FC and Manchester United Target (Source – Wiki)

According to reports emerging from the English Media, Manchester United and Liverpool are set to battle it out for the signature of Barcelona winger, Pedro Rodriguez. The Spanish international, who has 37 caps to his name is contracted to the Catalans till the summer of 2016 and has a buyout clause of 150 million.

It is rumoured that after missing out on the likes of Konoplayanka and Mkhitariyan, Rodgers will now turn to Pedro as he looks to bring in a left footed attacker to support Luis Suarez as Liverpool look to cement their position in the top 4 to secure Champions League football for next season. On the other hand, the inconsistent performances of Nani and Danny Welbeck may prompt David Moyes to spulrge into the market in search of a winger and the Spaniard would tick all the required boxes, given has the ability to stay wide or cut in-field.

Pedro is a graduate of the famed La Masia and was a regular first team player under the tutelage of Guardiola. A loss of form and injuries since have meant that first team opportunities have not come by thick and fast but the Spanish international still remains one of the valued members of the Blaugrana setup, given his ability to play on the both wings and provide that extra dimension to the Catalans play by providing width down the sides.

Spanish sports daily Mundo Deportivo  quoted that Pedro, although grateful to Barcelona may move to England in future

“[Pedro] told his intimates that he has ‘little things’ in England, and although he is grateful to Barca for everything, [he]  also thinks about his future”

David Moyes may well have to turn to the La Liga to solve his midfield conundrum  according to reports from the AS. In an exclusive report, the Spanish daily states that Manchester United are hot on the heels of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, who they came very close to signing on deadline day, only to see the move fall apart after a dramatic turn of events. Herrera, who has off-late cemented his place in the Bilbao XI after a string of great performances in the heart of midfield, may well prove to be the solution to the lack of creativity down the middle for the Red Devils.

In addition to Herrera, reports from Germany suggest that David Moyes is also on the hunt for signing Borrusia Dortmund play-maker Ikay Gundogan to strengthen the midfield. In what would be a big money move, the Scot is said to have been very keen on signing the German as he is seen as the perfect fit to the currrent United line-up.
